"while not generally remembered for his artistic skills, Bukowski was capable of producing some surprisingly good paintings. of course he was a writer, not a painter, so for every gem there were many average pieces and some that were just plain awful... most of them painted on paper with thick layers of oils (though he also used pastels, crayons, pens - whatever was at hand) then sent to Black Sparrow where they were bound into special editions of his books."*
